Superintendent’s Update to Ukiah Unified Families: January 29, 2021

And again, just when I think we’ve seen it all, an intense storm!  If we are one thing in our community and if our students are learning one thing over the course of the past few years, it is resilience!  Thank you for all you are doing to support your kids!

The Ukiah Unified COVID Safety Plan has been submitted to Mendocino County Public Health and California Safe Schools for All. We have put a tentative reopening date of February 16, 2021, to begin our phased reopening.  Week 1 opening would be for Grades TK - 2, Ages 3 - 22 SDC classes, Grade 5 at Eagle Peak, and Grade 6 at Pomolita.

During the second week of the gradual reopening, we would open Grades 3 - 6 (including Eagle Peak Grade 6). Grades 7 - 12 are subject to being in the Red Tier. We are not sure when we will be in the Red Tier as a County, so we have not specified a date for reopening Grades 7 - 12.

Again, this is contingent on local health conditions and our COVID Safety Plan being approved by the agencies listed above.  Both agencies have seven days to review. View the Ukiah Unified COVID Safety Plan on our website.

We hosted three Town Hall meetings earlier this week to share what families can expect when we return to school in-person.  If you missed the live events, please follow the links below and learn about our phased reopening to a hybrid model, health and safety protocols, mitigation, testing, and more. Expect virtual information sessions from your child’s school Principal detailing their in-person learning program.  You will hear more about dates and times from the school sites.
