New Volunteer Training Requirement

For the 2026-27 School Year, a new California law requires certain school volunteers to complete Mandated Reporter Training before serving in roles that may involve supervising students without direct staff supervision. If your volunteer role requires it, your school will provide instructions before the activity. The online training is free and takes about one hour.

Most classroom volunteers and volunteers assisting staff during school events or day field trips will not be required to complete the training.

This requirement applies only to specific volunteer positions, such as some overnight chaperones, volunteer drivers, coaches, mentors, and others responsible for supervising student groups.

Thank you to the many parents, family members, and community volunteers who help make our schools stronger while supporting student safety.
