CTP students bust a move at the Capitol

While many students spent Spring Break relaxing, six extraordinary students from Ukiah Unified’s Community Transition Program spent their week in Sacramento, standing up for a more inclusive California.

Cody Zeher, Christopher Tucker, Henry Desroches, Jenny Valenzuela, Audrey Anderson, and Rossie Hernandez attended DisCO 2025, California’s premier annual disability advocacy conference. Hosted by The Arc of California, Easterseals, and United Cerebral Palsy, the event brought together people from across the state who are passionate about improving policies and systems for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Day one of the conference was packed with inspiration, education, and empowerment. Nationally-recognized speakers – many of them trailblazers in the disability rights movement – challenged attendees to raise their voices and help build a future where people with disabilities can live, work, and thrive as full members of their communities.

We are incredibly proud of our students for being part of this important conversation and demonstrating leadership far beyond the classroom. Their participation is a powerful reminder that advocacy knows no age – and that the next generation is already making an impact.
