Dr. Analese Alvarez begins new role as Ukiah High School principal July 1, 2023

Alvarez earned her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from the University of Southern California, her Master's in Music Education from Northern Arizona University, and her Doctorate in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Toledo. High school band director, teacher, and coach are all titles that Dr. Alvarez has had in the past, and she has been an Assistant Principal at San Marcos High School in Santa Barbara Unified School District for four years.

Dr. Alvarez is the first in her family to graduate from college, and she believes this is one of the strengths she brings to her new role as principal at Ukiah High. “My father and whole family urged me to go to college, but they had no idea how to navigate education and college in the United States. My experience will help first-generation students navigate their college or career journey. I believe this is one of the most powerful things I bring as a leader to our community.”

After working in education for 23 years, Alvarez’s experience with LatinX communities and culture in various settings, her expertise with block schedules, and her passion for Career Technical Education are just a few of the things that make her an excellent fit for Ukiah High School.

“I feel incredibly honored to have been selected as the next principal of Ukiah High School. I am eagerly anticipating the chance to connect with the students, staff, and community on a personal level. I sincerely hope to empower every student to find their true passion and ignite their drive to succeed,” said Principal Alvarez. “I am thrilled to dig in and get started, working closely with everyone involved to create a nurturing and inspiring learning environment.”

Outside of school, Analese is a self-proclaimed Dungeons & Dragons nerd! She loves tabletop games and painting D&D miniatures. Stephen King and graphic novels are among her favorite reads, and she is also a podcaster and works out because mental and physical health are priorities in her life.
