Superintendent Kubin’s Update February 4, 2022

Happy Friday, Ukiah Unified! We celebrated the 100th day of school this week, and it was heart-warming to see so many of our young students excited and engaged in learning math. We are seeing our total number of COVID-19 positive cases start to dip down. You can check our COVID-19 numbers at the end of every week here. Thank you so much for working with us as a team and for your patience, love, and kindness throughout this year!

Free Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is Expanding California is expanding the TK program so that every child has the opportunity to attend a high-quality learning program when they are 4-years-old. I encourage everyone with TK-age children to take advantage of this excellent opportunity to accelerate your child’s learning.

Transitional Kindergarten is a bridge between preschool and kindergarten for children turning five between September 2, 2022, through February 2, 2023. Over the next three school years, eligibility will increase by birth date, achieving Universal TK by 2025-26. TK is part of the public school system and is free to participating students. Students attend the one-year TK program and the following year begin Kindergarten. Credentialed teachers using the district-adopted curriculum teach Transitional Kindergarten. It provides young learners a head start and the opportunity to learn and grow in an environment tailored to their academic and social needs. Learn more about TK.
