Superintendent Kubin’s Update January 21, 2022

Happy Friday, Ukiah Unified! Thank you all so much for everything you are doing to stay healthy and keep our schools open. In-person learning is critical for our kids, families, and community, and we will do everything we can to keep schools open.

COVID-19 Testing This Sunday We will be conducting COVID-19 testing for students and staff from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. this Sunday, January 23rd, at the District Service Center at 511 S. Orchard Ave. in Ukiah. During the week, testing at the District Service Center happens daily from 7:00 - 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Academic Help We’re here for you if your child needs help academically. Please reach out to your child’s teacher and school for support and remember after-school tutoring and enrichment are available at every school. Contact your child’s school for more information. Please take advantage of these opportunities to help our children accelerate their learning.

Free online homework help is now available for students in grades 6th-12th with Tutor.com.  Tutor.com connects learners online with one of their over 3000 expert tutors, live, on-demand, 24/7. Students can receive tutoring services in over 200 academic subjects, homework help, writing assistance, and test preparation in English and Spanish. Learn more about Tutor.com by watching this video.

Get started with Tutor.com Make sure students are logged in to Google or are using their school-issued Chromebook, then click on the Google apps icon in the upper-right part of the screen. Scroll down and click on the Tutor.com icon. Fill in the quick pre-session questionnaire, and your student will be matched with the first available tutor who is best qualified to assist. Students choose the chatbox or an audio connection to instant message or speak with their tutor in the online classroom. Students and tutors may also use the interactive whiteboard to share work and ideas. All activity during tutoring is recorded for later review.

Ukiah High School Tutoring UHS teachers conduct tutoring in the library every day during periods 1, 4, 5, and 8. All subjects are covered, and students can just drop in for help. Call 707.472.5750 for more information.

Elementary and Middle School Tutoring After School Education & Safety Program (ASES) staff and The City of Ukiah Safari Program have partnered to offer free after-school enrichment and tutoring services at every elementary and middle school. Contact your child’s teacher and school for more information.
