A. R. “Buck” Ganter, President
Buck Ganter was first elected to the UUSD Board of Education in 2003 and
re-elected in 2007. He has served on the Superintendent’s Athletic Advisory
Board since 2004. Mr. Ganter works for the County of Mendocino and has
worked in Ukiah as a local business owner. He attended Ukiah schools and is
a graduate from Chico State University. Mr. Ganter may be reached via e-mail

Myrinda Head, Vice President
Myrinda Head was elected to the Board in November of 2003 and re-elected in
2007. Ms. Head has been a school volunteer at all levels: elementary,
middle grades and high school. She has also assisted in tutoring programs in

David Johnston, Clerk
Dave Johnston was elected to the UUSD Board of Education in 2007. He serves
on the Budget Review Committee. He is a Director with the California
Business for Education Excellence Foundation. Mr. Johnston has been employed
by Mendocino County Office of Education as Technology Grant Director and
assisted many school districts, including UUSD, in obtaining and effectively
utilizing technology grant funding. Mr. Johnston attended UUSD schools. He

Beatriz "Bea" Arkin
Bea Arkin was first elected to the Ukiah Board of Education in 2001, and she
was re-elected to her second term in 2005. As a parent of children who
attended Ukiah schools, Ms. Arkin volunteered for 30 years in various
classrooms and grades. She has been active in school PTA’s and has served on
School Site Councils at all levels; elementary, middle school and high

Kathy James
Kathy James was first elected to the Ukiah Unified Board of Education in
1989 and is currently serving her 5th term. She has served on numerous
committees including negotiations committees. Ms. James is a graduate from
Sonoma State University. She currently serves as President of the Mendocino
Drug and Alcoholic Advisory Board. Ms. James may be reached via e-mail at
